The Benefits of Reduced-Cost Counselling

Updated: Aug 14

Reduced-cost counselling is provided by Graduate Intern Counsellors and offers numerous benefits to clients seeking mental health support. These sessions provide affordable access to quality care, making therapy more accessible to those who may not have the financial means for standard rates. Graduate Intern Counsellors are in the process of completing their Master's practicums and are closely supervised by our Clinical Director, Shivani Wells-Shaw, ensuring that clients receive competent and guided support. Graduate Interns provide supportive counselling to clients with a wide range of issues and concerns and offer a high degree of empathy, curiosity, compassion, and openness to growth and learning. They share the values of our clinic and are aware of the most up-to-date research on evidence-based practices. Graduate Interns transfer this knowledge to their work with clients. These sessions provide a space where your can feel seen and heard, gain perspective on your experience, learn healthy coping skills, and explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Additionally, working with a Graduate Intern can provide clients with the satisfaction of contributing to the professional development of future therapists, fostering a mutually beneficial therapeutic relationship. On a personal note, Shivani is grateful to still be working with clients from her graduate practicum many years later and appreciates the unique opportunity to grow and learn alongside them!

Reduced-cost sessions are available starting September 2024, and will take place online or in person at our Downtown Vancouver office. This is an amazing opportunity to access quality care at a lower rate. Click here to learn about our Graduate Intern Counsellor, Rahel Claman. Want to book a session? Here the link.
