Frequently Asked Questions

Trauma Therapy & Counselling in Vancouver

Have questions about starting therapy? We’ve compiled answers to common questions about our trauma therapy services, EMDR, couples counselling, online sessions, and more. Whether you’re in Vancouver or joining us online, this FAQ page will help you understand what to expect.

1. What types of therapy do you offer?

We specialize in trauma-informed counselling, including EMDR therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, somatic therapy, and more. We also offer relationship and couples therapy, parenting support services, and reduced-cost counselling with graduate-level interns.

2. Do you offer online counselling sessions?

Yes, we provide both in-person counselling in Downtown Vancouver and secure online counselling sessions, including EMDR therapy, across British Columbia. This flexibility allows you to access support in a way that works best for you.

3. Are your therapy services covered by extended health benefits?

Most of our therapists are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs), Registered Social Workers (RSWs), or Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCCs), whose services are covered by many extended health plans in BC. Check with your provider to confirm your coverage. Counselling sessions with our graduate and pre-registration intern counsellors are not covered under extended medical benefits.

4. Do you offer direct billing for therapy?

Yes. We offer direct billing for ICBC and CVAP (Crime Victim Assistance Program) counselling. For other insurance providers, we issue receipts that you can submit for reimbursement.

5. How much does therapy cost?

Our session rates vary by therapist and range from $60-$80 for intern counsellors who are completing their practicums, to $180+ for our most experienced therapists. While all of our clinicians are highly skilled, their levels of training and experience vary, and some have specialized certifications in trauma-informed modalities. As independent contractors, our therapist sets their own fees within our recommended fee guide. Visit our Fees page for more information.

6. How do I know which therapist is right for me?

If you’re not sure who to book with, we offer a free online Client-Therapist Match Consultation to help connect you with the therapist on our team who fits your needs and goals. You can also fill out our online intake form and we’ll follow up with personalized recommendations. We also offer free 15-minute phone consultations so you can make sure it feels like a fit before booking your first session. Whether you’re new to therapy or returning, we’re here to support your next step.

7. What kinds of issues do you help with?

We support clients with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, PTSD/trauma, chronic pain, dissociation, burnout, self-criticism, life and career transitions, grief and loss, ADHD, parenting challenges and more. You can learn more about each therapist's specializations on our Team page.

8. Do you offer couples counselling?

Yes, we provide relationship and couples therapy to support communication, connection, and conflict resolution. We  welcome all relationships including LGBTQIA2S+, polyamorous, and kink. Sessions are available online or in-person at our Vancouver office.

9. What is your cancellation policy?
