At our Shivani Wells Therapy Group we offer parenting support sessions designed to strengthen your confidence, build your capacity, and support your unique journey as a caregiver. Rooted in attachment theory, these sessions use the Circle of Security model to help you understand your child’s emotional needs—and your own.


What Is Circle of Security Parenting?


Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps caregivers make sense of what their children need in moments of both connection and distress. It’s based on decades of attachment research and offers a practical, compassionate roadmap for navigating the highs and lows of parenting.


The core idea? Your child needs a secure base to go out and explore the world—and a safe haven to return to when they’re overwhelmed. As a parent, your role is to be “bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind”—not perfect, but good enough.


COSP gives you the tools to:

  • Recognize your child’s emotional needs needs in real-time

  • Understand behaviours as communication (not defiance)

  • Reflect on how your own early experiences may shape your parenting

  • Repair disconnection and build trust

  • Set boundaries with love and clarity

  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

  • Enhance the development of your child’s self esteem

Many of us were not raised with the kind of emotional attunement COSP encourages. That’s why our parenting support work often includes elements of inner child healing—helping you notice and soothe the parts of yourself that feel unseen, unworthy, or overwhelmed when parenting gets hard.
