Parenting is one of the most meaningful and demanding roles we’ll ever take on—and yet most of us never received a manual for how to do it well. We find ourselves repeating patterns from our own upbringing, second-guessing our choices, or wondering why certain behaviours trigger such strong emotional responses.
That’s where Circle of Security Parenting comes in.
At our Shivani Wells Therapy Group we offer parenting support sessions designed to strengthen your confidence, build your capacity, and support your unique journey as a caregiver. Rooted in attachment theory, these sessions use the Circle of Security model to help you understand your child’s emotional needs—and your own.
What Is Circle of Security Parenting?
Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps caregivers make sense of what their children need in moments of both connection and distress. It’s based on decades of attachment research and offers a practical, compassionate roadmap for navigating the highs and lows of parenting.
The core idea? Your child needs a secure base to go out and explore the world—and a safe haven to return to when they’re overwhelmed. As a parent, your role is to be “bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind”—not perfect, but good enough.
COSP gives you the tools to:
Recognize your child’s emotional needs needs in real-time
Understand behaviours as communication (not defiance)
Reflect on how your own early experiences may shape your parenting
Repair disconnection and build trust
Set boundaries with love and clarity
Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
Enhance the development of your child’s self esteem
Why We Also Focus on the Inner Child
Many of us were not raised with the kind of emotional attunement COSP encourages. That’s why our parenting support work often includes elements of inner child healing—helping you notice and soothe the parts of yourself that feel unseen, unworthy, or overwhelmed when parenting gets hard.
We understand how hard parenting is and we can help you become the type of parent you want to be.
Who are Parenting Support Sessions For?
These sessions are open to anyone in a caregiving role - parents, step-parents, foster parents, and guardians of children from infancy to adolescence. Whether you’re navigating toddler tantrums or teen shutdowns, COSP can help you respond with more clarity, connection, and compassion.
You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone
Parenting doesn’t come with a script, but support is available. If you’re ready to shift from self-doubt to confidence, from power struggles to connection, we’d love to work with you.
Our parenting support sessions offer a space to grow—not just as a parent, but as a person.
