Graduate Intern Counsellor

KIRA IS ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
Kira Tivy is a Master’s-level Graduate Intern Counsellor providing low-cost counselling under the supervision of Clinical Director, Shivani Wells-Shaw.
Kira supports clients navigating trauma, overwhelm, grief, chronic shame, anxiety, depression, addictive behaviours, and repetitive patterns that feel difficult to shift. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals who feel disconnected — from themselves, their relationships, or their lives more broadly.
Her work is attachment-based and grounded in the understanding that relational safety is fundamental to healing and change. Kira integrates experiential and nervous system-informed approaches, including parts work, somatic therapies, AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), and interpersonal neurobiology.
Kira views therapy as a collaborative and relational process. She brings a warm, curious, and compassionate presence to her work with a focus on helping clients access their inherent strengths, capacities, and inner resources. Her overall goal is to support clients toward a greater sense of authenticity, agency, self-trust, and connection.
Kira works from a trauma- and resilience-informed perspective. Prior to beginning her counselling career, she worked in a transition house, and conducted research on the personal, social and cultural contributors to addiction. These experiences inform her work through her understanding that coping strategies develop within layers of experience and context and that people’s struggles make sense in light of what they have lived through.
