ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Loretta Laurin, who goes by Lo, is passionate about facilitating meaningful and moving experiences for people. Their holistic approach to therapy involves working together to support all aspects of a person - thoughts, emotions, bodily feelings, relationships, and social/cultural contexts - to come into harmonious relationship.
Lo supports clients with trauma-related symptoms (including physical, sexual, racial, and intergenerational trauma), grief & loss, chronic pain, explorations of gender and cultural identity, relationship challenges (including queer and open relationships), sex-based issues, interpersonal and family conflict, anxiety, burnout, self-criticism, substance use issues, and life & career transitions.
Lo’s approach is influenced by somatics, social justice, and attachment theory. Somatic approaches incorporate the wisdom of the body in the therapeutic process. With a background in teaching mindful movement for over 15 years (yoga, pilates, dance), Lo understands the mind-body system to hold inherent wisdom and capacity for healing. Social justice approaches consider our social and cultural environment, supporting liberation and empowerment. Bringing their lived experience as a queer and multiracial person with experiences of chronic pain, Lo understands the importance of culturally-sensitive and context-aware counselling. Attachment theory helps us understand how childhood relationship patterns affect how we react to things today and provides the opportunity to heal through new experiences of more secure (safe and loving) relational patterns.
For individual therapy, Lo works primarily with Internal Family Systems (IFS), which help us to understand, appreciate, and work with all the various parts of ourselves. Lo also draws upon Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), Person-Centered Therapy, Satir, Gestalt, and Solutions-Focused therapy to tailor the experience to you and your unique story.
As a couples and relationship counsellor, Lo welcomes and celebrates all relationships including LGBTQIA2S+, polyamorous, and kink. They are primarily influenced by Relational Life Therapy (RLT), which focuses on exploring the root causes of harmful patterns of behaviour and communication, while developing more effective relationship skills and fostering connection. They also draw from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and The Gottman Method.
Lo aims to provide clients with a compassionate space where they can feel the safety and support needed to not only take the next steps along their healing journey but to thrive in their lives and relationships.
