Graduate Intern Counsellor

(Jen’s pronouns are she/they)

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Staring January 2026

Jen Harvey is a Master's-level Graduate Intern Counsellor providing low-cost counselling under the supervision of Clinical Director, Shivani Wells-Shaw.

Jen is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with additional certifications in Relational Somatic Therapy and Focusing. Her training also includes Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems and Narrative Therapy. Additionally, movement, meditation and embodiment practices influence her approach.

Jen’s primary focus is supporting people as they find their way to greater nervous system regulation and a more compassionate relationship with themselves. Distinct from traditional talk therapy, she offers an integrative experiential framework that emphasizes the present moment. While client stories are important, she will also attend to body-based narratives in order to expand resources and foster resilience.

Jen has worked in the field of wellness for almost a decade, primarily as a Registered Massage Therapist with a clinical focus on trauma-informed care. She has extensive experience supporting clients as they navigate complex health conditions, chronic illness and life transitions. Jen works well with individuals living with the effects of traumatic stress, anxiety, attachment wounds and difficulty moving forward with life. She also cares deeply about helping people clarify and strengthen their boundaries as they come to feel more connected to their own sense of knowing.

Facing our struggles can feel overwhelming. Jen offers a strengths-based perspective that acknowledges the effects of oppressive systems, while working at a pace that feels comfortable for each person. She delights in supporting a wide range of clients, welcoming and celebrating neurodivergent and gender-expansive folks. As a therapist, Jen is known for her warmth, responsiveness, and gentle presence.
